The
Chambersburg congregation was established in 1908. The
Home Mission Board of the Southern Pennsylvania District
of Church of the Brethren built the original Chambersburg
Church, and the congregation was officially organized
in 1910.
Our congregation has 338 members with an average worship attendance
of about 225. We have a balance of ages and generations, with a growing
group of families with young children.
We are please to announce the completion of our new "Brethren
Life Center" which is a large multi purpose room, with a seating
capicity of 400. Also renovations which include a new administrative
wing, better handicapped accessible features and numerous improvements
throughout the building.
The Chambersburg Church of the Brethren is one of nine congregations
in the Franklin County area. Other Brethren congregations in Franklin
County include Brandts, Dry Run, Falling Spring, Greencastle, Rouzerville,
Shanks, Upton, and Waynesboro. Along with these congregations Chambersburg
is part of a larger group of congregations in the region that make
up the Southern Pennsylvania District. Our District Executive is Joe
A. Detrick. The 46 congregations collectively support numerous programs
including The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, Pennsylvania,
Children’s Aid Society in New Oxford, Chambersburg and York,
Pennsylvania, and Camp Eder in Fairfield, Pennsylvania.
